Remembering What It Really Means To Shop Small

Part of the life blood of our business is our lovely retail partners (we love them all and couldn't continue to create the way we do without them).

From our steady stand by's (Loom and Kiln, Local Nomad, Yoga International and Moorea Seal), to our women only collective (48 and Sea), to our mother/daughter duo soul cousins (Sisters Golden) to our newest crushes (DIG Gardens, Nava, Uriel and Len Collective) we are ever grateful for our stockists.

The retail boutique business isn't an easy one...a fickle market with ever changing consumer demands and elusive trends. Most of our retail partners are small businesses just like ours - or they are larger businesses with heart and soul at their core.  They are often run by artists and/or creative visionaries who want to surround themselves with beauty, bring unique, hand made goods to their communities and have a positive effect on the world by altering mass consumption habits.

In an effort to spread awareness and remind all of us what it means to buy gifts, home goods, jewelry and clothing from independent business owners, I wanted to take a few moments to talk about these special people who scour the world for quality vs quantity, handmade vs mass produced, ethical vs unethical, sustainable vs wasteful.  These business owners are changing the way we shop by bringing our awareness to the fact that behind every lovely thing is a person. And behind that person is a chain of people.  And when you shop small - you positively effect every single person in that chain so that each of us can continue to do meaningful work in this world.

Shopping small disrupts the inevitable suffering caused by mass consumption and consumerism.

We all want to leave our world a better place.  The beauty of the future depends so very much on the choices we make now.  So let's remember to support the things we believe in in everything that we do.

If you are looking for something special for yourself or someone else - take a moment to peruse our amazing stockists (these are the boutiques across the country - and beyond - that carry bright star and buffalo goods) and their stellar collections of hand picked treasures.  Many of them have online stores - or if you live close by one of them - be sure to visit in person.

Have a wonderful weekend..."take care of yourselves and each other" and keep filling the world with your unique positive vibrations.
